Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has revealed that talks among the teams to impose a cap on all forms of spending are "heading in the right direction." After vetoing the idea of an annual £40m budget cap in 2009, the teams settled on a resource restriction agreement but many costs are still outside of its jurisdiction. Horner added: "We agree with restricting activity but don't cherry pick. Let's do a transparent once-and-for-all deal with this."

Nick Heidfeld has said that he does not know when he will find out from Renault if he will drive as a replacement for injured Pole Robert Kubica. The German, who topped the testing timesheets for the team on Saturday, commented on the 2011 car: "It is not bad but not a lot more than that. But it is not a bad sign."
