Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel says he's happy enough to have bagged second place behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in Singapore and moved himself a little closer to the lead of the drivers' championship.

"It is good points," said Vettel. "In the end we have now got four races. It is very tight. I think any of the five drivers at the top of the championship still have a very good chance. Things can change quickly."

Heikki Kovalainen says he drove his ablaze Lotus down the start-finish straight, rather than head into the pitlane in the closing stages of Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix, because he thought that was the safest thing to do.

The Lotus driver's car was engulfed in flames because of fuel-system damage caused by a collision with Sebastien Buemi's Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Michael Schumacher's future with Mercedes has come under further scrutiny after the German admitted he was "not particularly happy about my first experience of racing in Singapore". Schumacher finished out of the points in 13th.

BBC pundit Eddie Jordan said: "He's not good enough. He should not be putting his reputation and legacy at risk."

Williams' Nico Hulkenberg was handed a 20-second penalty at the Singapore Grand Prix following a protest by the Force India team.

The Silverstone-based outfit protested against Hulkenberg for cutting a corner after its own driver Adrian Sutil was given a 20-second penalty for having gained from going around the outside of Turn Seven on the opening lap of the race.

FIA race stewards have elected not to penalise Bruno Senna following his race-ending collision with the stationary Kamui Kobayashi in Singapore, which took place under waved yellow flags.
