Rubens Barrichello, 38, is confident he will remain at Williams next year for his 19th season in Formula 1. His extended time in the sport has seen him take the record for the most grand prix starts, with his 300th coming at the next race in Belgium. "Williams and I have been working together on the 2011 car," he said, "so I think the [contract] renewal is a natural process."

McLaren group chairman and former team principal Ron Dennis has thrown his support behind Jacques Villeneuve's bid to return to F1 with his own team for 13th spot on the grid next season. "Everyone in the world of Formula 1 hopes it will work," Dennis told French-Canadian publication Rue Frontenac.

Pirelli will reportedly begin its Formula 1 track testing program on Monday. The sport's new tire supplier for 2011 will be running at the Mugello circuit near Florence in Italy, with current Mercedes' reserve driver Nick Heidfeld at the wheel of a Pirelli-shod 2009 Toyota.
