Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after crashing in a support race to the British Touring Car Championships at Snetterton.

He was knocked off the track by Julien Draper before being hit side on by Tony Hughes. Newey was taken out of the car on a stretcher but his injuries were not serious. Newey also crashed during the Le Mans Classic in 2006, escaping with a cut finger after a 180mph collision.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso says he has a 50% chance of winning the world championship this season following the team's recent improvement. With seven races remaining, the Spaniard is one of five drivers in the hunt for the title, all separated by only 20 points. Alonso said those with title-winning experience like himself, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button could have the edge over Red Bull duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

Sebastien Buemi believes he will be good enough to drive for Red Bull in the future after serving his apprenticeship with Toro Rosso. Buemi will remain with the Red Bull B team for a third season in 2011 but is determined to be challenging for titles one day. "I'm confident in the future I'll be able to step into the Red Bull, which is now the fastest car," he said.
