Alex Wurz will be Honda's reserve driver for the 2008 Formula One season.

The 33-year-old former Williams driver will act as back-up for Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

"We are very pleased to have secured one of the most experienced technical drivers in Formula One," said Honda team principal Ross Brawn.

Wurz collected 13 points in the 2007 championship, including a podium finish in Canada, before announcing his retirement from racing in October.

The Austrian has 10 years of experience in F1, driving in 69 Grands Prix with Benetton, McLaren and Williams.

Wurz admitted he was lured by the prospect of working with former Ferrari head Brawn.

"The chance to work with one of the best brains in F1 in Ross Brawn is very exciting, as is the level of resources that the Honda team has at its disposal," he said.
