Hill updated Ecclestone on the plans for Silverstone after the EGM

A host of improvements are planned to the track to ensure Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone extends the deal to host the race beyond its 2009 deadline.

"We're committed to doing all we can to upgrade the facility," said Hill.

"From the conversation I've had with him he would just like to see something happen. Now we've a chance to do that."

At an extraordinary general meeting of the BRDC in July, members voted in favour of a �25m redevelopment plan.

Hill met Ecclestone at the Hungarian Grand Prix to give him an update on their plans, and said the important thing now is to turn those ideas into action.

"There is still a lot of work to be done on the planning and development permissions," he said.

"But in some regard, the Government have been helpful in giving reassurances to the local planning authorities they would like to see it happen.

"As to when development will start, I can't answer that, but there is a necessity for it to do so as soon as we can clear the plan.

"Between now and Christmas I expect to see more progress and more good news about the possibility of retaining the Grand Prix."
