Spyker are hoping their new car will bring them points this season |
Formula One team Spyker predicted a "transition year" at the unveiling of their new Ferrari-powered F8-VII car. Spyker, who have recruited leading designer Mike Gascoyne, are hoping to replace the car with a new version by the Turkish Grand Prix in August.
The Dutch sportscar maker took over Midland last September but ended the season without winning a point.
Team principal Colin Kolles said their focus was on reliability, performance and gaining their first point.
German rookie Adrian Sutil will partner Dutchman Christijan Albers on the grid.
"We know that the first half of the season could be challenging for the team," said Kolles.

"It was disappointing not to score a point the whole season, but when you look at the improvement we made as a team in the tail-end of the season, I think we didn't do as badly as the stats make out.
"We want to get points this year, but we want to earn them."
Gascoyne said that his involvement in the latest model had been limited.
"When you arrive on 1 November, there's very little you can do in terms of a new car, so really my role was to advise," he said.
"I've been in all the design meetings, but the philosophy of the car was basically finished at that point. The aerodynamics are still evolving but, mechanically, the layout of the cars is fixed."
He added: "It's lovely that the team's been sold and it has a new brand start, but really, engineering-wise, it's just an evolution of last year's car with a Ferrari engine in it.
"What we've got to do is to make sure we make a competitive car in the
future.
"We're targeting Turkey (for the revised car). We want it to be a significant step forward, but really it will be defined by progress in the wind tunnel and where we are at the start of the season.
"We have to see where our direct opposition are, particularly Super Aguri and Toro Rosso. We're going to ensure that when we do introduce the B-spec, it will be a significant step forward."
The new season starts in Melbourne, Australia on 18 March.
