Button won the first Grand Prix of his career in Hungary |
Honda driver Jenson Button will miss next week's Formula One tests after suffering two hairline cracks to his ribs while go-karting. The 26-year-old, who won his first Grand Prix in Hungary last August, hurt himself during a karting session which was part of his winter preparations.
He will sit out the three-day test - the first since the season ended - which starts in Barcelona on Tuesday.
Rubens Barrichello, Christian Klien and James Rossiter will test for Honda.
The Barcelona sessions are the first with all the teams running on Bridgestone tyres following Michelin's exit at the end of last season.

A Honda spokeswoman said Button would not take part "to ensure that the condition is not further aggravated." It remains to be seen whether Button will be involved in a further two test sessions scheduled in Jerez on 6-8 and 13-15 December.
The spokeswoman added: "We will assess Jenson after next week and take it from there."
Button is due to participate in the Race of Champions in Paris on 16 December, competing against the likes of David Coulthard, Sebastien Loeb and Colin McRae.
