Button sees no end to poor form

No way out of the woods? Button and Honda are struggling
Jenson Button has admitted he has no idea how long it will take his Honda team to end their run of poor form.

The Englishman said his run to ninth place in Canada on Sunday had been "tough and disappointing" but held out little hope of imminent improvement.

"I don't know how long it's going to take," said Button, who races next in the US at Indianapolis on Sunday.

"We've just got to make the most out of what we've got. I don't know if we'll have the same situation (at Indy)."

Button, who went into the season hoping to win several races, has now failed to score in the last three Grands Prix - a run of form that has led to the team suspending technical director Geoff Willis.

But Button, 26, said he was determined to stay positive, despite there being no obvious reason for optimism.

Rubens Barrichello and myself are very pushy and it will make difference - it has to

"I want it to get better," he said. "It's not going to move us forward if we are not motivated.

"What's the point in not being motivated? You have always got to be motivated in whatever you do. However bad things get you've got to be motivated.

"That's just my opinion - maybe most people aren't like that."

He said the team would analyse the reasons for their poor form in Canada, a race that team boss Nick Fry had predicted last week would see an improvement by Honda.

"We'll look over the reasons for it and hopefully solve some of them for Indy next weekend," Button said.

"Words won't make us go any quicker but [team-mate] Rubens [Barrichello] and myself are very pushy and it will make difference - it has to.

"In Indy we have got to wait and see. Hopefully we can find something which can help us for Indy because we don't have any different parts on the car.

"It's not an aerodynamic issue. It's something we need to resolve as soon as possible because it is costing us massively."

Willis was put on "gardening leave" by the team after the British GP two weeks ago following the appointment over his head of Shuhei Nakamoto, formerly Honda Racing Development's engineering director, to the new role of senior technical director.

Fry said over the weekend in Canada that the team would sit down with Willis this week to discuss his future.
