Red Bull's David Coulthard was furious with Juan Pablo Montoya after missing the cut in the second session of qualifying for the British Grand Prix. Coulthard accused the Colombian of an "absolutely blatant" block on the last flying lap which left him down in 11th.
"To me it was a deliberate action which impeded another driver," said the Scot.
"He obviously made a mistake on his flying lap. Trying to make me pay for his pain, he drove slowly around the end of the lap before I could start."
Coulthard complained to the race stewards but the officials decided not to take any action, leaving the McLaren driver eighth on the grid.
Coulthard's stance left McLaren boss Ron Dennis baffled.
He compared Coulthard's words on Friday in defence of Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, who was stripped of pole in Monaco qualifying two weeks ago for preventing rivals from beating his best time, with the Scot's comments on Saturday.
"I'm just so surprised at David's outburst," he said.
"One minute he's leading a charge on 'we have to be supportive of everybody and everybody makes mistakes' and yet a few hours later he's got a contrary opinion when it affects him."
