Bridgestone will fill the gaps left by Michelin in 2007 |
F1 chiefs have given tyre companies six weeks to declare their interest in becoming the sport's sole supplier. The sport is officially ending its tyre war in 2008 as its governing body, the FIA, look to cut speeds and costs.
However, Michelin's withdrawal at the end of this season means Bridgestone will have a monopoly in 2007.
But the rights to secure an exclusive three-season supply deal from 2008 are up for grabs, and applications must be submitted by June 23.
Bridgestone remain favourites to net the contract as Michelin have repeatedly stated their opposition to a one-tyre F1 format.
Bridgestone currently supply Ferrari, Toyota, Williams, Midland and Super Aguri.
