FIA president Max Mosley will meet Formula One's drivers in Cannes on 1 August to try and ease tensions between him and the sport's stars. Top of the agenda are discussions over safety at private tests, but they will also discuss proposed new rules for F1.
The meeting will only go ahead if half the drivers agree to attend it on the Monday after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Relations between them and Mosley are at a low following the US Grand Prix debacle at Indianapolis on 19 June.
The drivers had been due to meet him ahead of the British GP, but Mosley cancelled because he was upset that their grievances were already being made public.
The Grand Prix Drivers' Association then released a letter saying it was "disappointed not to receive the full support of the FIA president" on safety issues.
Mosley said the door was still open but requested that any talks take place away from the media glare of a grand prix weekend.
