Red Bull has joined the other six teams using Michelin tyres in appealing against a guilty verdict on two charges arising from the US Grand Prix fiasco. After spending five days considering their options, Red Bull said on Tuesday they had no option but to appeal.
Renault, McLaren, Toyota, Williams, BAR and Sauber last week expressed their disappointment at the FIA's ruling.
The teams were found guilty of failing to ensure they had suitable tyres and wrongfully refusing to start the race.
They were two of the five charges they faced; penalties will follow on 14 September.
The Michelin-equipped teams withdrew after the formation lap at Indianapolis because the French company said it could not guarantee the safety of the tyres through the final high-speed banked corner.
A request for a temporary chicane was ruled out by the FIA.
Only six cars took part in the race, leaving Michael Schumacher to claim a hollow victory. Michelin has offered a refund to the 120,000 spectators who bought tickets for the event and has also pledged to distribute another 20,000 free tickets for the 2006 event among them.
