Question marks remain whether F1 will return to The Brickyard

Sunday's US Grand Prix turned into a farce when only six cars chose to race after concerns over Michelin tyres.

"Before we would even broach that subject we really need to evaluate our position," Chitwood said when asked if Indianapolis would host F1 again.

"Then we can respond as to where the future might be."

Chitwood was unable to confirm whether any compensation would be offered following the farcical scenes that constituted a race on Sunday.

"I can tell you this, we feel as victimised as the fans do," he said.

"We had no control in our ability to stage an event. The people who had control today were FIA, Formula One and Michelin.

"We have directed comment to the folks who were making decisions. We will be evaluating what we communicate to our customers in the coming days.

"I believe Bernie Ecclestone is aware of our position and our unhappiness at what happened."

Meanwhile, before the furore over the tyres broke, Ecclestone is thought to have criticised the lack of publicity for the race.

Chitwood responded by saying: "We have been very aggressive in how we promote it. You can look at the activities we do which are different to other circuits."
