Fernando Alonso was in relaxed mood after giving Renault victory in their home race, the French Grand Prix.
He started from pole and was rarely troubled on his way to a win that stretched his championship lead over Kimi Raikkonen to 24 points.
"From three or four laps left, I was expecting the moment of crossing the line," he said.
"The stands were full of people from the Renault factory. I crossed the line slowly to enjoy the win with them."
Raikkonen was frustrated his final placing, despite starting 13th and finishing second.
The Finn had incurred a 10-place grid penalty after changing engines during practice on Friday.
"It's a bit disappointing really what happened on Friday," said the McLaren driver.
"It really destroyed our weekend completely in that we wanted to win here.
"Without that penalty I think we could have won the race - at least we would have been in a strong position to fight for it.
"Second place is quite good for us. We only dropped two points so it didn't cost too much, but of course I want to win races and we definitely had the speed here."
