Villeneuve keen on budget boost
Jacques Villeneuve
Villeneuve admires Sauber's resourcefulness
Jacques Villeneuve has called on Sauber to find investment in order to improve their standing in Formula One.

The Swiss team, one of the few without the backing of a top car manufacturer, are only seventh in the constructors' race after problems with their new car.

"The infrastructure is there, we just need bigger budgets now. We have a lack of resources," said Villeneuve.

"I've always been in teams where budget was not a problem, where we could get the parts we wanted and just try them."

But Villeneuve - a former world champion - explained that it worked differently at Sauber.

"It's a bit of a different approach, but the team makes an amazing use of the budget they have.

"With this amount of budget other teams would do less, it is very efficient but it would be good to keep this level of efficiency with more money.

"I've never worked with a team with this level of resources compared to the others, even in Formula Three."
