Villeneuve eyes further progress
Under-fire driver Jacques Villeneuve believes he can continue to improve now he has finally broken his Formula One duck at Sauber.

After failing to score a point in six races, Villeneuve showed a major improvement last weekend when he came sixth at the San Marino Grand Prix.

"There is potential for more to come," said the 1997 world champion.

"I never had any doubts, but I believe this result will make everybody more positive and life easier in general."

The Canadian has come in for fierce criticism since returning to F1 late last season with Renault prior to his winter switch to Sauber.

But after the promising result at Imola, Villeneuve now wants Sauber to further improve their car, particularly in the traction control department, before next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

He added: "The main goal is really to keep the momentum that we have now and to work in the same direction as we did in Imola. I am convinced that this will enable us to make further progress.

"This was only the first step with the traction control. I am sure that we can further optimise it.

"We will do more testing this week in Fiorano, and one part of the programme is to work on the traction control."
