Juan Pablo Montoya has questioned the record of his predecessor David Coulthard at Formula One team McLaren. Coulthard moved to McLaren in 1996 and raced with the team for nine years before joining Red Bull Racing in 2005.
But Montoya - who is now paired with Kimi Raikkonen at McLaren - hinted that Coulthard had underperformed.
"David had his chances and was here a long time - (his team-mate) Mika Hakkinen won two world titles in that time," the Colombian told the Guardian.
Montoya has won only four races in four years of Formula One, compared to Coulthard's 13 victories in 10 years.
But the 29-year-old is confident of a sharp improvement under the wing of McLaren supremo Ron Dennis.
"My old team Williams said I should be fitter, but did nothing about it," he said.
"I'm getting a kick out of working with Dennis. They're motivating me a bit more and I never had that at Williams."
