Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve set the pace in Formula One testing at Jerez on Friday.

The Canadian continued to impress for new team Sauber and outpaced Ferrari duo Luca Badoer and Marc Gene by almost a second at the Spanish circuit.

Toyota's Ralf Schumacher and the Renault of Giancarlo Fisichella completed the top five.

British youngster James Rossiter performed admirably on his F1 debut, taking his BAR to 10th fastest.
