Ferrari have agreed to lend their support to a Formula One demonstration down London's Regent Street to promote the British Grand Prix.

Cars from eight teams - also including Williams and Jenson Button's BAR - will be in action in the capital on 6 July.

The test run is set to take place from 1800-2000 BST, as a precursor to the British GP on 11 July.

Event organiser Harvey Goldsmith said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for London to see the gladiators of sport."

"This event is a major achievement for Regent Street and an attraction that will draw attention worldwide."

Tentative plans to stage a Grand Prix around the streets of London emerged earlier in the season.

But Silverstone then won the right to host the GP until the 2006 season.
