Button is full of praise for Silverstone |
Briton Jenson Button has welcomed the idea of a London Grand Prix, but holds reservations about what effect the street circuit might have on the cars. Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone recently revealed that he had not ruled out the capital hosting the British GP.
"It would be fantastic for the sport and a great spectacle for London," BAR driver Button told BBC Five Live.
"However, the ride-heights in F1 cars are very low. If we get any bumps then the car would suffer and so would we."
Button also defended the current British venue Silverstone, which has come in from some stinging criticism in recent months from Ecclestone.
"The circuit itself is very good and they've improved the facilities at the venue," he added. "If they keep going in the right direction then the Grand Prix should stay there for the long term."
The Briton, who is currently enjoying a good season with BAR, came second in last Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.
He currently lies in third spot in the drivers' championshop.
