Ralf is finding his brother trying |
Ralf Schumacher believes his brother Michael's domination of Formula One has made the sport boring. Michael Schumacher is already well on the way to a fifth consecutive title this season after winning six of the seven races so far with Ferrari.
"It starts to become boring for all of us that we are unable to beat Ferrari," said Ralf Schumacher.
"We have tried many years now, but they are doing something which all of us have not figured out yet."
But Michael Schumacher rejected the claims that the sport had lost its interest.
"Something very unique and special is happening with Ferrari," he said ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
"People want to see this. I think people want to see who is going to be the first to beat us, too."
Ferrari's Michael Schumacher has dominated so far this season |
Schumacher heads to Canada 14 points clear of team-mate Rubens Barrichello, while Ferrari are 45 points ahead of Renault in the constructors' championship. It is not the first time the 34-year-old German has been forced to defend himself and his team but he believes the critics should look at other sports.
"Formula One has never had the excitement of many overtaking moves like in motorcycling. That's never been the case," said Schumacher.
"Yet people still love the sport, and we have increased the numbers of viewers every year worldwide and that is much more important.
"Look at soccer and basketball. You might like either or the other more, but you don't do that because there are more goals happening in basketball and less in soccer.
"We should always have the sport as the main priority in Formula One, and don't try to create artificial rules to make the show 'better' and the TV companies happier."
