Jordan have terminated the contract of Italian driver Giorgio Pantano and called in Timo Glock as a replacement. The team said contractual difficulties were behind the split, and confirmed German Glock would race in Sunday's inaugural Chinese Grand Prix.
The 22-year-old scored two debut points in Montreal when Pantano was sidelined by a management dispute.
Team boss Eddie Jordan, who recruited Pantano in February, said: "It has been a pleasure working with Giorgio.
"However, contractual issues have made this unavoidable and we wish him every success in the future
He said Glock had been "first-class" as third driver in testing and free practice.
"I'm confident that in this unexpected call-up he will do a good job again," he told the team's website.
"In Shanghai he will be in the same boat as everyone else as the circuit is new for all the drivers."
Dutchman Robert Doornbos, who has been racing in the junior Formula 3000 series, will be the team's third driver for the season's remaining three grands prix.
"It's been an amazing season for me," said Doornbos, winner of the Belgian F3000 round at Spa and who celebrates his 23rd birthday on Thursday.
"To get this chance with Jordan is fantastic and although it's late in the day and at circuits I have never visited, I'm grabbing the opportunity with both hands and looking forward to my first F1 drive."
