The new Bahrain Formula One track, which will host the first Middle Eastern Grand Prix next month, has been finished a day ahead of schedule. The 3.4-mile Sakhir circuit, which has cost �81.4m, was due for completion on 7 March ahead of the race on 4 April.
Track boss Sheikh Mohammed bin Essa al-Khalifa said building the track was "the realisation of a dream".
Track designer Hermann Tilke said: "The circuit will be the most beautiful on the Formula One calendar."
Tilke added: "I feel sure that the drivers and teams will like it for the challenge that it delivers. "Our brief was to create something special in the desert. What we have achieved surpasses expectations and has given the Kingdom a circuit with intense symbolism and beauty."
