Coulthard wants a competitive car next year |
David Coulthard wants Ralf Schumacher to decide his future - and possibly increase the Scot's own options. Coulthard is leaving McLaren at the end of this season, with Williams or Toyota his preferred destinations.
Schumacher has yet to agree a new deal with Williams, and Juan Pablo Montoya leaves them for McLaren at the end of the season.
"Ralf, just hurry up and make a decision," Coulthard joked ahead of this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix.
If Schumacher fails to agree a contract extension with Williams, Coulthard could return to the team who gave him his F1 debut in 1994, to be partnered by a young up-and-coming driver.
"It is my intention to be on the grid next year, and obviously that means finding the most competitive drive that I can," he added.
Schumacher has been linked to Toyota and Renault in the past week, although the French manufacturer swiftly denied any negotiations.
"I'm pretty clear about what we want to achieve with Williams this year," said the German, whose contract with the team expires at the end of the season.
"At the moment I am talking to BMW-Williams, which is where I am and where I would like to stay. We're still talking about it."
