Jaguar keep Wilson - for now
Justin Wilson
Wilson has to wait to hear whether he will be retained for 2004
Jaguar have extended Justin Wilson's contract - but only long enough to ensure they have two drivers when testing resumes next month.

Wilson moved to Jaguar from Minardi for the last five races of the season and is hoping to be retained for 2004.

But Austrian Alexander Wurz is the front-runner to be Australian Mark Webber's team-mate next season.

A Jaguar spokesman said the team had extended Wilson's contract for "a few more weeks".

That would "allow Justin to test for us while allowing us more time [to make a decision] if we need it. It's win-win for all concerned," the spokesman added.

Jaguar are believed to need their second driver to bring financial support to the team in 2004.

They are not expected to announce their decision on a second driver until December.
