| Upbeat McNish targets France ![]() McNish has failed to pick up a point in 10 races Allan McNish is confident he will not be blighted by the problems which left him stranded on the grid at the British Grand Prix. The Toyota driver failed to get away at Silverstone last weekend and had to be pushed back into the pits. But the Scot insisted a series of tests at Monza would ensure the problem will not be repeated at the French Grand Prix on 21 July. "In the back of our minds was to find and resolve the problem of Silverstone, which was basically a clutch control problem," he said.
"We did that, we were able to replicate the exact scenario and the electronics guys found a solution. So therefore we shouldn't in theory have any problems on that in the future. "But you know what Formula One's like, there's a lot of things that can creep up and bite you. Unfortunately, Silverstone was one of them." McNish has endured a tough first season in Formula One, failing to pick up a point in 10 races to date. But the 32-year-old is unperturbed by his form to date and reports suggesting he is on the verge of being replaced at Toyota. "You can't let rumours get to you, because that's what they are," he said. "You've just got to keep your head down and keep doing the job." |
