Shields bagged a season high 13 points in a win over King's Lynn last month |
The Lakeside Hammers will assess the extent of the knee injury picked up by rider Adam Shields. The 34-year-old crashed whilst riding for Australia against Great Britain at the Arena Essex Raceway last Friday. He stayed in hospital over the weekend and will miss the Knockout Cup matches against Birmingham this week. Co-promoter Jon Cook said: "Obviously Adam's crash is a blow to the team. There's no point speculating, until he's seen a specialist." The Hammers will use rider replacement for Shields in both of the fixtures against Birmingham. Meanwhile, Ipswich number one Kevin Doolan will double-up for the Hammers. He has been added to the squad while Kyle Legault recovers from injury.
