Poole Pirates rider Jason Doyle will replace the injured Darcy Ward for the start of the Elite League season. Ward, 18, broke his wrist and shoulder earlier this week and Doyle, 25, will go straight into the squad for the meeting at Eastbourne on Sunday. Poole Promoter Matt Ford told the club website: "There's a gulf between his average and Darcy's but I rate the kid. "He can punch well above his weight and Sunday will be a good test for him, I know he is looking forward to it." Doyle, who has also competed with the Isle of Wight Islanders, is no stranger to injury woes after he was was ruled out of the Pirates 2009 campaign with a long-term shoulder injury. "Doyle will get an extra ride because Rafal Dobrucki will be missing as his Polish side, whilst willing to honour all of our Elite league meetings, have asked for him to be available in Poland on Sunday," said Ford. Russian rider Dobrucki also competes for Zielona Gora in the Polish Extraliga.
