Castle Combe has hosted motorsport for more than 60 years |
Castle Combe racing circuit is having a £150,000 overhaul ahead of their motorbike diamond jubilee celebration. A brand new drivers centre is being built along with extra terracing at the popular Quarry Corner and a facelift for the race control box. The work should be completed before the opening 2011 race at Easter. "It's frightening the amount of money it takes but it'll improve the whole ambience of the driver's experience," said marketing manager Rodney Gooch. "We get a lot of letters from spectators and one of them said could we have more terracing at Quarry Corner. It's spectator power coming in," he added. In 2010 the venue near Chippenham celebrated 60 years of car racing. "We can repeat what we did last year on four wheels," Gooch told BBC Wiltshire "There's a lot of other new things going on. We've got some new classes racing with us, it's very exciting."
