Birks is a former moto-cross rider

Sheffield have completed their 2011 Premier League squad with the signing of local youngster Ashley Birks.

The 20-year-old Sheffield-born racer spent last season as part of Scunthorpe's National League team.

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: "He's a local lad and that will give him plenty of incentives to do well.

"The time is certainly right for him to move into the Premier League and we know the supporters will warm to him. He's a great racer."
