Ashworth to captain the Tigers again in 2010 |
Skipper Ricky Ashworth has agreed a deal to stay with Sheffield Tigers for the 2010 Premier League season. Tigers now have two riders confirmed for the new campaign with Ashworth joining Australian Hugh Skidmore. Ashworth, the Premier League Riders Champion, is expected to captain Sheffield for a second season. He said: "I'm really happy to have done a deal this early and I can start planning for 2010. There was nowhere else I wanted to go but Sheffield." Sheffield are the only club Ashworth has ridden for in his career but he is keen to compete at a higher level. "I also hope to get some Elite League bookings when the club promoters meet at their AGM. It would be nice if the rules allowed me to double up," he said. "Winning the Premier League Riders' title was the highlight of my career in September, but now I want to be captain of a Sheffield team which wins something."
