Donald was a double IOM TT winner in 2008 |
Cameron Donald has been released by the N Ireland-based Relentless TAS Suzuki team due to "unforeseen circumstances". The Australian road racer re-signed with TAS for the 2011 season just a fortnight ago but they have now parted company by mutual consent. "We had a great partnership, but I now know it's time to take a different direction," said Donald. TAS team manager Hector Neill said Donald's exit was a joint decision and that there was "no ill feeling". "We had a largely successful relationship with Cameron during his time at Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing, and we must admit, he was a joy to work with," added Neill. "The team is currently looking for a suitable replacement, but we will not rush our decision." The Melbourne rider had an indifferent campaign in 2010 after missing much of the previous year with a shoulder injury sustained at the Isle of Man TT. Donald, who notched a double for the Suzuki team at the Isle of Man TT in 2008, was set to race next year alongside new team-mate Guy Martin. "I couldn't be happier to be racing for Relentless TAS Suzuki again in 2011," said Donald earlier this month. "My goal, as always, is to win international road races and I know better than anyone that I need to come out fighting in 2011. "I couldn't have a better team in my corner for the job ahead and the only way I can thank Philip and Hector (Neill)'s loyalty is by winning races next season." Donald finished eighth for TAS Suzuki at the Macau Grand Prix at the weekend but after lengthy discussions with Neill he is now leaving.
