Freddie Lindgren remained unbeaten in the first leg of the semi-final |
Wolverhampton needed a maximum in heat 15 to clinch a 44.5-44.5 draw against Poole Pirates in the first leg of their Elite League play-off semi-final. Freddie Lindgren and Adam Skornicki crossed the line first and second in the final heat at Monmore Green. The result preserved Wolves' unbeaten home record, which stretches to almost two years, although it leaves them huge underdogs to reach the final. The second leg takes place at Wimborne Road on Monday, 20 September. Wolves team manager Peter Adams said: "It's going to be a tall order for us from this point on but we won't be giving up. "We will go down to Poole and give it everything we've got." Lindgren had earlier been involved in a dead heat with Poole's Davey Watt, and remained unbeaten by a Pirates rider in the entire meeting.
