Leon Haslam Superbike World title hopes dwindling

Leon Haslam
Haslam has closed the gap on Biaggi to 58 points

Leon Haslam's chances of Superbike World Championship glory appear to be all but over despite a brave effort in the 11th round in Germany.

Haslam was involved in a crash which caused the first race to be stopped but rode on to finish six and then placed third in the second race.

Alstare Suzuki rider Haslam did cut Max Biaggi's lead by two points to 58 but there are only two rounds left.

Jonathan Rea triumphed in race one while Nori Haga won the second race.

Rea took the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda to victory at the Nurburgring circuit ahead of the Althea Racing Ducati of Carlos Checa and the Sterilgarda Yamaha of Cal Crutchlow.

Haslam managed a creditable sixth spot and then improved to third in the second race behind Xerox Ducati rider Haga and Rea.

Italian Biaggi came in fourth and fifth on his Aprilia but, with just 100 points up for grabs, is in a great position to clinch the title.
