Newport edged out the Plymouth Devils with a narrow two-point National Trophy win at the St Boniface Arena on Friday. Former Devils rider Lee Smart was the star for Newport, only dropping one point from his five rides to finish with a tally of 14. Devils number one Nicki Glanz was also on form as he took 13 points from his five rides. The loss leaves the Devils bottom of the National Trophy table, having taken just three points from six matches. Newport are now up to third, with six points from only two fixtures.
