Ian Lowry was fifth in last year's British Superbike series

Ian Lowry has been handed a ride with the Paul Bird Kawasaki team for the forthcoming World Superbike round at the Nurburgring in Germany.

The Moira rider competed for the Cumbria-based outfit at the recent British Superbike round at Brands Hatch and now has another chance to impress.

Lowry was fifth in last year's BSB series but he was not retained by the Relentless TAS Suzuki team for 2010.

He enjoyed a brief spell with Motorpoint Yamaha during this season.

Lowry had hoped to contest the Spanish Moto2 Championship this year, but plans fell through at a late stage.
