Ian Lowry was fifth in last year's British Superbike series |
Lisburn rider Ian Lowry has signed to ride for the Motorpoint Yamaha team for the remainder of this season's British Superbike campaign. Lowry, who will race at Oulton Park on Monday, replaces ex-World Superbike champion Neil Hodgson, who had to retire from the sport through injury. Lowry competed for the Relentless TAS Suzuki team in last year's series. The 23-year-old will also race in the Spanish Moto2 championship on a JMW Fogi Racing machine. Lowry's arrival increases the Northern Ireland interest in the Superbike series to four, with Alastair Seeley, Michael Laverty and John Laverty already taking part.
