Sweetman helped Brummies win the Premier League Fours title |
Birmingham were grateful to their in-form Australian Richard Sweetman as they edged Rye House 53-41. Sweetman's 13-point haul made up for a below-par evening from veteran skipper Jason Lyons, who had been forced to use a borrowed bike. The Brummies were made to sweat by the Rockets' Swedish youngster Linus Sundstrom, who enjoyed a number of race wins on his way to 15 points. It was Sweetman's heat 11 victory over Sundstrom that secured the home win. The victory strengthened Birmingham's hold on second place in the Premier League standings behind leaders Edinburgh. Backing up Sweetman in the points scoring, Steve Johnston added nine points, Justin Sedgmen and Aaron Summers eight apiece.
