Jakobsen takes Chris Kerr's place in the Brummies line-up |
Birmingham have signed Danish rider Klaus Jakobsen while Californian star Chris Kerr continues his recovery from a broken leg. Kerr's rehabilitation has taken longer than expected, and the new August averages make booking guests difficult. Jakobsen, 21, will make his Brummies debut against Workington on Wednesday. "Klaus is a rider I have rated for some time, and he has a good record around Perry Barr which is important," said Birmingham boss Graham Drury. "He likes our circuit and he will come in until Chris is fit to return, so I've told him to impress us and give us a tough decision to make. "We've still got to race the likes of Sheffield and King's Lynn at home as well as Workington, and we are very keen to ensure a top four place." Jakobsen is the Brummies' second signing in a week, following the full-time granted 18-year-old reserve Kyle Newman.
