In 2009, Cummins became the fastest Manxman in TT history |
Manxman Conor Cummins says he will not let the pressure of an expectant home crowd affect him as he gears up for success at the Isle of Man TT. In 2009, the 24-year-old finished second in the Senior TT and third in the second Supersport race. He told BBC Isle of Man: "I'm aware that a lot is being said about me this year but I'm 100% focussed on the task in hand and will ride my own race." Cummins became the fastest Manx rider in TT history last year. The McAdoo Kawasaki rider lapped the Mountain Course at an average speed of 130.225 mph. | Pressure is what I put in my tyres |
He continued: "I think the package I've got with McAdoo is even better than last year, so hopefully I can put it to good use and get the results that I want. "I will start every race thinking I can win. I don't race to come second. Pressure is what I put in my tyres." The 6ft 4in rider's first race will be Saturday's six-lap Superbike race. Cummins recently achieved a second place finish in the Superbike race at the NW200 and is currently fifth in the BSB Superstock 1000 Championship after four rounds.
