Premier League side Stoke Potters have named Scunthorpe Saints' Malcolm Vasey as their new team manager. Stoke promoter Dave Tattum said: "He has a vast amount of knowledge in the sport having been around in various capacities for a long time. "He is enthusiastic, flamboyant, knows the rulebook inside out and I'm sure he will go down well with the supporters." Former rider and coach Stuart Parnaby has replaced Vasey as team manager of the Saints. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey told the club website: "Malcolm has been an outstanding contributor to Scunthorpe speedway and he goes to Stoke with our blessing. They have got themselves a first class team manager and he will always be welcome at Scunthorpe." Vasey took over at Stoke after ill health forced long-serving John Woolridge to step down. He said: "It all came about rather suddenly and it certainly wasn't a decision I took lightly. I'm upset to be leaving such a fine club but opportunities like this don't come up too often and I believe in Stuart Parnaby the club have a fine person to take over."
