Swindon captain Leigh Adams failed to win a race at Wolverhampton
Swindon face an uphill battle to win the Elite League title after going down to a 54-38 defeat by Wolverhampton in the first leg of the play-off final.
No Robins rider reached double figures, while Wolverhampton's Freddie Lindgren scored a paid maximum.
Swindon captain Leigh Adams told BBC Wiltshire: "It's not impossible, we've just got to fight for every point.
"I should have done a lot better to try and get one over Freddie [Lindgren] but it just didn't happen tonight."
The Robins will now have to overturn a 16-point deficit in the return leg at the Abbey Stadium next Monday.
"There's a league title on this," said Swindon manager Alun Rossiter.
"They've got to go away and have a real good think about what they want to do, whether they want to be league champions."
Rossiter conceded that his side underperformed at Wolverhampton, but expects them to come out fighting in the second leg.
"When your heat-leaders don't get out of the starts it doesn't send a good message to the rest of the boys.
"I'm still very positive, but we've got to make sure we get out of the start because that's basically where we lost it."
Wolverhampton - Fredrik Lindgren 14+1, Nicolai Klindt 5, Adam Skornicki 10+1, Tai Woffinden 7+1, Peter Karlsson 10+1, Chris Kerr 3, Ty Proctor 5+1
