Stoke Potters will take a lead of nine points into the second leg of their Young Shield quarter-final tie against the Somerset Rebels on Friday. The Potters stormed to a 52-43 victory in the first leg at Loomer Road. Young Danish rider Jesper Kristiansen was Stoke's best performer on Saturday, scoring 12 points. Somerset skipper Steve Johnston set a new track record of 60.5 seconds to win heat one, but the home side fought back well to gain the advantage. Meanwhile, Jason Bunyan will take his place in the Premier League Riders Championship at Sheffield's Owlerton circuit on Sunday. Bunyan will take on the top rider from each Premier League club, with each rider facing each other once in five qualifying heats. He has competed at the meeting in past seasons for the Isle of Wight.
