Robins suffer late loss at Wolves

Leigh Adams
Leigh Adams scored 11 points but could not stop Swindon losing to Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton Wolves overtook Swindon Robins at the top of the Elite League table on Monday with a 47-43 victory at Monmore Green.

The lead changed hands several times during the meeting with the home side clinching victory in the final heat.

Swindon are now second but co-owner Gary Patchett was not too down as his team claimed an away point.

"We targeted a point, bit disappointed we didn't get two. We dropped a point here and there," he told BBC Wiltshire.

Swindon captain Leigh Adams top scored with 11 whilst new signing Morten Risager weighed in with five and a bonus.

Wolverhampton took two points from the match and lead Swindon by a single point with both sides having three meetings remaining in the regular Elite League campaign.

The teams meet again at Swindon in September.

"It's in our own hands to finish top now," said Patchett. "As long as we do better than Wolverhampton between now and the end of the season.

"Match them at our remaining away meeting at Ipswich with what they do at Coventry and as long as we take three points off them at home next week, providing we come through the Poole meeting as we should, that'll see us top."
