Mansell receiving advice from his dad before a Formula BMW race in 2006
Greg Mansell will follow in his father Nigel's footsteps this weekend when he races at Silverstone in the World Series by Renault.
The 21-year-old is in his first year racing with Wellingborough-based Ultimate Motorsport.
He told BBC Radio Northampton: "The track in itself, without the historical factor, is a fantastic track.
"I remember brief bits from when my dad raced in Indy Car at Silverstone but it is a bit of a blur."
When asked about how he deals with being known as 'Nigel Mansell's son' he said: "It's something I have got use to over the years but I haven't ever known any different, so I just try to make the most of it and enjoy it.
"The ultimate goal is Formula 1, that is why I placed myself in Renault World Series, I think it is one of the stepping stones.
"Formula 1 is quite a closed shop, you have to be wanted by teams, be quick enough and be the right marketing tool for a team to use at the time."
Mansell's brother Leo is also currently racing, in the GP2 Ferrari Championships.
