Phil Morris has averaged 4.84 in competitive fixtures for Stoke in 2009
Stoke rider Phil Morris has apologised for a poor run of performances since joining the Potters in the winter.
Morris, 33, issued a public apology to supporters following the victory over Somerset at Loomer Road on Saturday.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've been underperforming for a while and I wanted to apologise for that.
"I've decided I'm going to concentrate on speedway. I know I can do the job, I haven't gone bad overnight, and I know I can go back to where I should be."
Morris added: "I just want people to know that it's not through a lack of trying. I just want to get my head clear and hopefully Saturday can be the catalyst to get things going again."
The Potters, currently fourth in the Premier League, take on Redcar at Loomer Road on Saturday.
Redcar are the only team to defeat Stoke in the Premier League this season.
Morris added: "We've got a chance to get one over on them. The aim is to get all three points, we'll be trying our best to do that and hopefully it will come off."
The Welshman has also been riding for Lakeside in the Elite League this season.
