Knight's 2005 World championship win marked his rise to the top of his sport

The Isle of Man's Ballaugh resident David Knight failed to replicate his recent GNCC winning form at the Weston Beach Race last weekend.

After an initial lead, Knight's KTM 450 was struck with mechanical problems in the solo race as he fought his way through the 930 strong field.

Knight finished 13th with ten-time world motocross champion Stefan Everts clinching the lead.

The quad event was more successful for Knight who finished in fourth place.

Other Manx finishers in the solo race were Adrian and Antony Smith in 188th and 189th place and Gareth Quayle in 201st and Malcolm Kirk, 390th.
