Despite qualifying well Ridley-Holloway failed to break into the top 10 |
Barnstaple's Jonathan Ridley-Holloway's chances of a top 10 finish were ended by a series of incidents during his Clio Cup races at Silverstone. After qualifying in a career best eighth place for the first race he was shunted from behind on the first lap and finished in eighteenth place. In the second race he gained three places after two laps before the safety car curtailed his progress. After a further series of incidents he ended the race in twelfth place. Ridley-Holloway said: "Race one was really disappointing, we had very good pace and after qualifying I felt confident we could do a good job but I got a whack from behind going through Copse on the first lap and my race fell apart from there really." | I know with some better fortune we'll be able to move up the order towards the championship top ten |
"To get a top 12 spot in race two wasn't too bad but it's not what I wanted. "The pace is definitely coming now, we were in the top eight in testing and qualifying so I know with some better fortune we'll be able to move up the order towards the championship top 10." The event was the biggest of his career so far with the Clio Cup sharing the weekend with the World Series meeting at Silverstone and around 150,000 spectators attending the races. His next meeting is at Snetterton on 12-13 July.
