Brack suffered serious injuries in a crash 18 months ago |
Swedish driver Kenny Brack, who was seriously injured in the Indy Racing League in 2003, will race in the Indianapolis 500 later this month. Brack broke his back, sternum, ribs, right leg and both ankles in a crash during the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway in October 2003.
He will replace last year's Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice.
Rice suffered a back injury and concussion in a practice sesssion earlier this month.
"It is pretty weird that Buddy filled in for me last year and now I will fill in for him," said Brack.
Brack was the 1998 Indy Racing League champion and 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner. He will race the No. 15 Argent/Pioneer Honda car on 29 May.
